Data (measurement of the competency)
Three readers, one from the department and two external to the department, undertook evaluations of the student presentations. Both evaluators noted the following:
- All reviewers felt that all the projects discussed were achievable and had solid plans for implementation.
- Most presenters spoke clearly with inflection. There were a few audio quality issues, but these were minor and didn’t distract from the presentations.
- Reviewers were encouraged that students were given guidance on structuring the presentations (e.g. SMART Goals, Logic Model). This helped students meet the organization and structure goals for the assignment.
- A few presenters read directly off the slides.
- A few presentations had slides with too much information, cutting these down would help the presentation.
- There seemed to be some minor difficulties with managing the remote learning software (e.g. Zoom). Once faculty have more experience with these tools, transitions should be more seamless.
Action Taken in Response to the Data (What will you do in response to the Findings?)
Encouraged by the quality of presentations, the KES program may consider adding similar program requirements to the other KES program tracks.
