Assignment
Students were assigned to undertake a recorded 15-minute presentation via Zoom with time left at the end for questions. Each student presented on their “adopt-a-site” project, which involved about 2 hours per week researching the history and cultural significance of their adopted site through historical records, interviews, and discussions with the siteʻs managers. Presentations were organized to discuss the background history, assessment of “significance” based on National Register criteria, and provide closing slides with source information.

Two readers external to the department undertook evaluations of the student presentations. Both evaluators were impressed by the work these students had in preparing for their presentations. It was clear from their enthusiasm that all were highly engaged with their work. This enthusiasm was enhanced by the reciprocated enthusiasm of the teacher who offered comments and suggestions for all the students.
