Motion by Sukhwa Hong:
- Motion: Crosslist QBA 367 to DATA/QBA 367
Rationale: QBA 367 is an essential course in the college of Business and Economics curriculum, particularly for students pursuing the Business Analytics Certificate. It focuses on applied business analytics, teaching critical data science and analytical skills in a business context, making it relevant to both business and data science students. The course is already an elective for the Data Science Certificate and a core part of the Business Track.
The cross listing with Data Science was approved by the Data Science team with a unanimous vote of 4-0-0 (9/17/2024). Additionally, Sukhwa Hong, who is contracted to teach one Data Science course per semester, will be able to meet this requirement while continuing to teach within the College of Business and Economics. Cross Listing the course not only raises its visibility but also clarifies that it imparts essential data science skills, attracting students from both business and data science programs.
Second: Angela Faanunu Vote: 12-0-0 Motion Passes
Motion by Amir Mohammadian:
Motion: Remove Econ 130 (intro to Microeconomics) as a prerequisite for Econ 361
Rationale: Currently, both Econ 130 and Econ 131 are listed as prerequisites. However, since the topics covered in this course are primarily macroeconomic in nature, only Econ 131 (Intro to Macroeconomics) is necessary as a prerequisite.
Second: Angela Faanunu Vote: 12-0-0 Motion Passes
