2.) Director’s update: progress on Student event for Friday

  • Not a fundraiser
  • Focus on student achievement celebration, networking, invitation to wider range of audience

3.) Chair’s update:

  • Finance candidate search
    • 2 candidates invited for on-campus interview
    • First candidate to visit this week 5/1/2025
    • Second candidate to visit next week (week of 5/5/2025)
  • Faculty’s Meeting with Chairs to be scheduled individually

4.) Proposal to submit the ATP for a new MBA Program (Todd):

5.) Proposal to approve visiting scholar Dr. Lagrange’s second period of research Jan2026-Jun2026:

  • Motion: Andrey
  • Second: Heesun
  • Vote: 11-0-0

6.) CoBE Dean position:

  • CoBE faculty has been unofficially surveyed about preferences. This result can be included in letter to VC (by Senate Chair) as to CoBE’s projected direction of CoBE management.
  • Letter to include CoBE’s support towards Todd’s reappointment as Director

7.) Allow for more than four courses to be scheduled at the same time (Andrey):

  • Discussion about circumstances to allow for extra course scheduling
  • Possibly to check whether we already have 4 classes at the same time. If so, request for 5th designated classroom
  • For courses with high student demand, applying flexibility to the unofficial policy limiting scheduling to four courses per time slot may be beneficial
  • Possibility of using STAR to check waitlisted students and their enrollment in low-enrollment classes
  • Discussion

8.) Budget update (Marcia, Andrey gave presentation):

  • Change of budget process to increase transparency.
