Advising for current
and
prospective psychology students
- Advising is a
very important
resource designed to help students with a variety of
academic, career and personal issues that may be relevant to their
course of study. It is highly recommended that students see
their advisors at least once a semester to decide on courses, ensure
academic progress and discuss their future educational and career
options.
All
professors
in the Department of
Psychology serve as academic advisors to undergraduate Psychology
majors and provide consultations to students interested in becoming
one.
Each of our instructors can provide individual advising upon
request. Additionally, each semester the department sets up daily
advising sessions during the week preceding the first week of
classes. Students are
always welcome to meet with any Psychology faculty if they need advice.
How to obtain advising:
- Undergraduate
Psychology majors have assigned advisors. If you do not
know who your advisor is, you can easily find this information here.
Please come to see your advisor during their office hours or contact
them to set up an appointment. If your advisor is unavailable,
please feel free to ask any Psychology faculty to meet with you for
advising.
- Students
interested in
declaring Psychology as their major can make an appointment with
any Psychology
faculty for advising.
- New,
returning and transfer
undergraduate students can meet with any available
Psychology faculty for advising or attend one of the pre semester
advising sessions.
- Graduate
students in
the Counseling Psychology program should see their assigned
advisors.
- Prospective
graduate students
should contact Dr. Bryan Kim, director of the MA program in Counseling
Psychology.
For questions that
are not related to the study and careers in psychology (e.g., tuition,
transfer of
credits, general institutional policies, student exchange programs,
personal problems, etc.) please seek advising form the UHH Student
Services. Numerous advisors and counselors located in the Student
Services Building will be happy to meet with you either by appointment
or on a walk-in basis. Click here for
