Kenith L. Simmons, Former Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

Photo of Kenith SimmonsKenith Simmons came to UH Hilo in 1979 as Assistant Professor of English, with specialization in Modern Literature and Film. She has since added teaching and writing about Feminist Literature and Shakespeare to her academic activities. She is also an actively publishing poet.

Dr. Simmons has previously served as the English Department Chair, Humanities Division Chair, Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Science, and Assistant Vice Chancellor. She is also Vice President of the Hawaii Concert Society, a member of the Hawaii Literary Arts Council Board, and a volunteer mediator with Kuikahi Mediation Center.

Dr. Simmons tenure as Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs concluded at the end of December 2012.
