UH Hilo is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Students may transfer credits to other American or foreign universities on the same basis as course credits are transferred by other accredited American universities. UH Hilo has two programs accredited by the Hawaiʻi Teacher Standards Board through the State Approval of Teacher Education Program (SATEP) process:
