Assistant/Associate Professor of Strategic Management (#83971) Position Description

College of Business and Economics, UH Hilo, general funds, full time, nine-month tenure-track appointment, to begin approximately August 2014, pending position clearance and availability of funding.
Teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in Strategic and General Management subjects; advise students; engage in scholarly activity and publish results in peer-reviewed journals; engage in curriculum development and outcomes assessment; and participate in University and community service.
Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or D.B.A. with major in strategic management or closely related field (where supported by teaching experience and scholarly activity in strategic management) from an AACSB accredited college or university. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with students, colleagues and other employees at the UH Hilo. Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications: In addition to the Assistant Professor as stated above; minimum of five (5) years of full-time college or university teaching at the rank of Assistant Professor; to be considered an applicant must show evidence of preparation to teach effectively at the undergraduate level, evidence of commitment to ongoing scholarship in management.
Demonstrated scholarly activity in strategic management, evidence of successful college level teaching in a multicultural setting, experience and/or expertise in human resource management or service industry or small business management/entrepreneurship, and the ability and willingness to teach some combination of courses in strategic management, general management or human resource management is desired. The ability to interact and work in a collaborative and effective manner is desired, as is experience or willingness to participate in distance education efforts.
