Mission
The Student Service Corps (SSC) provides programs and projects which serve the co-curricular cultural, social, recreational, environmental, and educational interests of the students of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. The SSC contributes to the development of student skills and provide experience in program and project planning, and in volunteer and fiscal management. Most importantly, it educates student coordinators the importance of applying the philosophy of learning and serving at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and the communities surrounding it.
The spirit of Aloha encompasses the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo where the rich history of the Hawaiian people are closely tied to their traditions, aina (land), and the environmental resources that sustain all the people of Hawaiʻi.
Diverse social and cultural opportunities created on a foundation of Aloha provide a well balanced and rich college experience. Through active participation in campus and community projects, students are able to form and nurture relationships between UH Hilo campus and our Big Island community partners. By participating in campus and off-campus projects, UH Hilo students and community members are able to establish common bond based on learning and serving their community.
