The art of Helping students will always serve as the bedrock of our Division. Our on-going commitment to measure our programs and divisional objectives serve to ensure that the services we offer are timely and effective. The 2014-15 academic year will further our commitment to solidify our divisional assessment culture. Collectively, we will further our quest to be an ohana whose kuleana is to assess programs and ensure unparalleled service to our students. With our campus visit by the WASC Review Team taking place in Fall, 2014, the following items will address the co-curricular and student services inquiries outlined in the Offsite Review Team's Summary of Lines of Inquiry: Offsite Review. The following updates are noted below.

Student Affairs Assessment Committee

Each academic year, a Student Affairs Assessment Committee(SAAC) is convened by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Under the leadership of the DSA Assessment Support Coordinator, the committee is charged to provide leadership and resources for assessment and program review. Goals for the 2014-15 academic year will include the following:

  • Provide training and resources to promote fluency in standards-based assessment practice as outlined by the Council for Standards in Higher Education (CAS).
  • Partner with VCSA and the Student Affairs Leadership Council (SALC) in creating a template for program review to be vetted and adopted for division-wide implemenation starting academic year 2015-16.

Comprehensive Program Review

The program review process will undergo a complete overhaul during the 2014-15 academic year. Under the previous template, the program review process encountered unforeseen challenges that hindered the progress of efforts. Starting in Fall, 2014, the SAAC, in partnership with the VCSA and SALC, will construct and adopt a template for comprehensive program review to begin in AY 2015-16.
