You'll find the name of your faculty advisor in MyUH.
- In MyUH:
- Once logged in to MyUH, click on “”Check Registration Status” in the left column, under the heading, “Registration”.
- The current term will need to be selected, so for this semester.
- Your faculty advisor's name is listed on the page, under the heading, “Advisor Information”
- In STAR for Students:
- Once logged in to MyUH, click on “”STAR Degree Check/View Transcript” in the left column.
- Once STAR is opened up, click on the “Academic Pathway” tab.
- Your faculty advisor name will appear in the far rightt colum, under the “Advisor Notes” heading. Your faculty advisor’s email address is linked to facilitate email contact.

Why don't I have a faculty advisor?
Possible reasons include but aren't limited to:
- You have not yet registered for courses at UH Hilo. Students entering next semester are not yet assigned to advisors.
- You are an exchange student. Please meet with your exchange coordinator, Zach Street (National Student Exchange) or Todd Shumway (International exchange).
- The division or college has not yet assigned you to an advisor in your major. (See how to get an advisor)
- You are an unclassified student.
I'm enrolled at UH Hilo and don't have an advisor. What do I need to do to be assigned to a faculty advisor?
- Visit your major's college/division/department office to request that you be assigned to an advisor.
- The same process also applies to students who have changed majors and must be reassigned to a faculty advisor in their new departments.

How do I change my advisor?
At UH Hilo, changing advisors is an informal process.
- If you are already being advised by a faculty member in your department other than your assigned advisor, you are encouraged to notify the college/division secretary of any advisor changes.
- If you have changed your major, a new advisor may be assigned to you before advising for early registration. If your previous advisor still appears, go to the college/division office of your new major and request that you be assigned to a new advisor.
