Academic Support Campus Development Community Outreach A Gathering Place To augment existing academic support services provided for all students and in particular programs that target first generation, low income, and minority students, the Center focuses its academic success services on the following:


The Tutors-on-Demand (TOD) service enables Pacific Islander students to access tutoring services whenever and wherever. Our Pacific Islander tutors will set up appointments for you to meet at a mutually agreeable time and place including weekends and in the evening.

Math Tutor - Individualized tutoring available for the following classes

  • Math 100, 103, 104, 104F, 115, 121, 205 & 206
  • CS 101 & 135

Business Tutor - Tutoring services and study groups are available for the following courses:

  • ACC 250 (now ACC 201): Financial Accounting
  • ACC 251 (now ACC 202): Managerial Accounting
  • ENG 209 (now ENG 287: Rhetoric): WI/ Writing for Business
  • ECON 130: Introduction to Microeconomics
  • ECON 131: Introduction to Macroeconomics
  • ECON 340: Money & Banking
  • BUS 240: Business Law
  • BUS 290: Critical Thinking

Writing Tutor (Walk-In Only) Students who need help in improving their writing skills or need someone to read their drafts may sign up for this service. Due to availability of our tutor, all English tutoring will occur at the Center on the following days:

  • Wednesdays, 4-6 pm
  • Thursdays, 5-7 pm

Highly recommended for students in the following courses, which require students to meet with a tutor:

  • ENG 100T
  • ESL 100T
  • All classes

How to Sign Up:

Pacific Islander students who wish to utilize the TOD must sign up and be approved by the PISC Educational Specialist, Desha Staley-Raatior ( Once approved, Desha will set up the initial contact with the appropriate tutor. Sign Up Now>

Major Study Nights @ the PISC

The PISC is dedicating several hours in the evening for students in similar majors to study together for support and to access computers, free printing with our incentive P-Card, and academic support from the PISC Academic Success Team.

Mondays: 5:00 - 7:00 pm (Staff: Elaine Chugen)

  • Open (Interested groups, majors, or classes may reserve the PISC group projects or study nights. Approval will depend on staffing)

Fridays: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Staff: TBD)

  • Open (Pacific Islander student organizations are invited to reserve particular hours on Fridays for regular club meetings, club-sponsored study sessions, etc)

Weekends: Saturdays or Sundays (Staff: TBD)

  • Open (Groups, clubs, majors, and classes are invited to reserve the Center for study sessions. Approval depends on availability of staffing)

How to Join:

Major Study Nights are open to all Pacific Islander students. There is no need to pre-register to participate unless you wish to qualify for our incentive P-Card.
