Itinerary of Events for Parents/Family/Guests
Parent/Family Orientation Registration
June 1st - July 31st, 2008
Orientation for parents and family members is just as important as student orientation. You are an integral part to your students' successful transition to the UH Hilo community! Parent/Family orientation is designed to help you learn more about your students' new home away from home; become aware of resources here at UH Hilo to help support your student; answer any questions you may have about living in the residence halls and in the community; your rights as a parent or family member; and most importantly, welcome you to the Vulcan family!
The registration fee for parents or family members is $35 each. This fee covers most of the activities outlined in this itinerary (unless otherwise specified). Parent orientation begins alongside student orientation on Sunday evening, August 17th, and will officially end on Tuesday evening, August 19th. However, parents and/or family members are welcome to participate in other activities outlined here on this schedule - especially the Lu'au Under the Stars on Thursday, August 21st - this is an orientation favorite! Please stop by the orientation check-in tables on Monday, August 18th, at the Campus Center Plaza beginning at 7:00 am. Check-in will also be available after the first general session, Good Morning UH Hilo, which begins at 7:45 am.
June 1, 2008 is the first day to sign up for orientation. July 31, 2008 is the last day to sign-up and cancel. There will be no refunds after July 31, 2008. Accomodations after this date and for walk-ins will be made on a first come, first serve basis, pending availability. This does not guarantee that all sessions will be available for sign-up as we get closer to orientation week. Please call the New Student Programs Office should you have any questions: 808-933-0732.
