New Student Programs (NSP) is committed to supporting all of the newest members of our university ʻohana (family). Our mission is to build a foundation for student’s full academic and social integration into the campus through the development of long lasting connections to other students, faculty, staff and student support resources; to build a supportive learning environment that promotes academic success; and to create a commitment to and understanding of what it means to be a proud member of our UH Hilo ʻohana.
NSP is all New and is Now Hiring!
We're excited to announce that New Student Programs will be reorganizing our student staffing model for next year. We've got a slew of brand new opportunities for students to be a part of this next level of services and programs that we'll be offering next year to support the successful transition of both First Time First Year Students as well as new Transfer Students.
Some of the highlights include:
Student Ambassadors will begin their work over the summer as they reach out to incoming new students and helping them with their transition to UH Hilo. They'll then help to run New Student Orientation in the Fall and Spring. Throughout the academic year, Student Ambassadors will continue to support their group of new students to aid them in their successful first year here as well as help to develop new programs and services for our newest students. Additionally, Student Ambassadors will staff the Campus Concierge Desk answering questions and being a resource to campus visitors and our university 'ohana.

These 2 Program Coordinators will work to build such a place. Additionally, you'll coordinate the Campus Tour program, scheduling campus visits and the Tour Guides who'll welcome these visitors.
Campus Tour Guides:
While not a new position, Campus Tour Guides are instrumental in creating a welcoming and exciting atmosphere as prospective students and their families visit campus. You'll take them on a walking tour of campus, sharing your stories and giving them an outstanding memorable experience.

Join a Living Learning Community for Fall 2015
A living learning community is where first year students with a shared interest live together in one of our residence halls. They take a shared class together and have an amazing outside-of-the-classroom experience focused around that particular theme or interest. These communities are all designed to support the academic success of our students, help students make friends, and ultimately graduate and become a successful member of the global community. The Living Learning Community program is an outstanding way in which the University of Hawai'i at Hilo is supporting the success of our newest students.
