The Eden Stell Duo
Internationally renowned for their dynamism, innovation and breathtaking virtuosity, Eden and Stell will present music from the 18th-20th centuries.
The guitarists have performed together 28 years. They graduated from London’s Royal Academy of Music with honors and continued their studies in Brussels with the Brazilian guitar duo of Sergio and Odair Assad. Shortly thereafter, they won first prize in the South East Musicians’ Platform Competition, which led to debut concerts at London’s Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre.
Since then, they established an international reputation, performing throughout Europe and the United States.
Eden and Stell’s Hilo concert will include music in a variety of styles: Baroque works by Fernando Sor, Francois Couperin and Jean-Philippe Rameau; a noble theme and variations by Johannes Brahms that bears a resemblance to some of Bach’s music; and 20th century compositions by Francis Poulenc and Federico Mompou. It also will include a charming set of Armenian folk songs by little-known (outside of Armenia) composer Georgi Sarajyan.
$25 (general), $20 (60 and older) and $10 (students) and are available at The Most Irresistible Shop, Music Exchange and the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center box office. Remaining tickets will be available at the door after 6:45 p.m.
