This is the UH Hilo report. News about people, events and programs at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

Applications are now being accepted for the UH Hilo School of Education’s Master of Arts in Teaching cohort that begins next summer. The program prepares teachers who demonstrate the knowledge, skills and disposition needed to be effective educators in Hawai’i.

Students who complete the program apply at the end of the first year for initial teacher licensure with the Hawai’i State Teacher Standards Board and become eligible for employment as a highly, qualified teacher. In the second year, students engage in action research while employed to integrate and apply a variety of research-based methods in the classroom.

For an application and more information, visit the school of education website at or call (808) 932-7102. For more news about the University, visit That’s the UH Hilo Report. I’m Ken Hupp.
