This is the UH Hilo report. News about people, events and programs at the University of Hawai`i at Hilo. A group of students will be marking personal educational milestones when they receive their degrees at this year's fall commencement.

A total of 300 students have petitioned for a variety of degrees and/or certificates from the various colleges. The class includes 40 students, who are candidates for various post-graduate degrees or other honors.

Addressing the graduates as this year's keynote speaker will be Rob Iopa, the critically acclaimed, Hilo-born architect who designed both the College of Hawaiian Language and Pharmacy Buildings.

This year's student speaker will be Clinton Tavai, a Hawaiian Studies and Communication major, who will deliver his address in both English and Hawaiian.

Fall commencement takes place on Saturday, December 17th at 9:00 a.m. at the UH Hilo new gym. For more news about the University, visit That's the UH Hilo Report. I'm Ken Hupp.
