This is the UH Hilo report. News about people, events and programs at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

A trio of UH Hilo students are the latest recipients of the Adopt-a- Beehive with Alan Wong Scholarships. Stephen Zilch, Kawehi Lopez and Kirsti Vedenoja, were presented with $1,000 each during the recent Bee-coming Sustainable event held at the University’s Farm in Panaewa.

The event showcased the beekeeping facilities and activities at the farm including visits through the bee garden, van tours to the apiaries, educational demonstrations and displays, and a live observation hive.

The program is a collaborative partnership with Chef Alan Wong and UH Hilo to bring greater awareness to the importance of honey bees and support the educational beekeeping activities at UH Hilo. To learn more about the program, visit hilo.hawaii.edu/adoptabeehive.
