This is the UH Hilo report. News about people, events and programs at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

One of the actions called for in the University’s recently updated strategic plan is the establishment of an Office of Applied Learning Experiences. The goal of the office is to provide students with a host of real world learning experiences that include community-based projects, mentorships, service learning, research and creative displays, as well as internships and practica with local businesses and agencies.

The office will hold its first major initiative when it sponsors an internship fair for students and various participating industries on Thursday, November 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Campus Center Dining Room.

Organizations who are interested in offering internships are being asked to register for the event by contacting Applied Learning Coordinator Tom DeWitt at 974-7384 or email
