This is the UH Hilo report. News about people, events and programs at the University of Hawai`i at Hilo.

When the new College Campus Store opens this fall, it kicks off what could be an extraordinary year of key capital improvements coming on line.
Current projects include major initiatives like the new student services and Ka Haka Ula OKeelikolani College of Hawaiian Language buildings, the University Village Phase I student housing, the Wentworth Hall classroom and lab renovation, and the campus-wide Emergency Notification and Synchronized Clock System.

These projects and others now underway have a total dollar value of $104.6 million. The direct and indirect activity they generate is expected to boost the overall number of people employed on the island by more than 1-percent. Its a timely reminder that UH Hilo is not only an institute of higher learning, but a major economic engine.
