CSAV participates in upcoming Home Improvement Show

Two girls enjoy the "Volcanologist Fashion
While most of the booths at this show will be displaying products for people interested in building new homes or renovating existing ones, CSAV provides a different venue by educating the public on how to strengthen a home against natural hazards.
"The hazards homeowners can most effectively build against are earthquakes and hurricanes, so displays showing how to retrofit with shear walls and strong-ties will be featured," said Darcy Bevens, educational specialist with CSAV. "But to make the booth appeal to kids as well as adults, a portable seismograph and hurricane simulator will be set up so that kids can make their own earthquake/hurricane and see the effects on models of typical Hawai`i-style houses."
