Documentary film about Vanuatu shown at UH Hilo

The public is invited to see a documentary film, “Grassroots, Those Who Vote,” in the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Campus Center 301 on Thursday, April 9, at noon. The film explores contemporary political life in Vanuatu in the South Pacific. Filmmaker Eric Wittersheim, a Research Fellow with the Pacific Islands Development Program at the East-West Center, will be present to show the film and lead a discussion. There is no admission charge.
The film won the jury prize at the International Oceanian Film Festival in Tahiti in 2004.
The film is in English, French, and Bislama (with English subtitles). The event is sponsored by the UH Hilo Certificate in Pacific Islands Studies, Anthropology Department, and AANAPISI Program.
