Visiting Artist Arai to present slide-lecture of her work

Visiting Artist Tomie Arai will present a slide-lecture of her work on Tuesday, September 16 at 7 p.m. in the University of Hawaii at Hilo UCB 100. There is no admission charge.

Arai, who lives in New York City, is the juror for the 2008 Pacific States Biennial National Print Exhibition, which will be featured in the UH Hilo Campus Center Gallery from October 2008 to mid-April 2009. Her work has been exhibited nationally and her prints are in the collections of the Library of Congress, the Avon Corporate Collection, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Japanese American National Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is presently a board member of the WomenÔÇÖs Studio Workshop in New York, is this yearÔÇÖs recipient of an Urban Artists Initiative Grant and a 2007 Arts and Activism grant from the Asian Women Giving Circle. Arai is also currently an Artist-in-Residence at the Museum of Chinese in the Americas in New York City.
