For Immediate Release
The Edwin H. Mookini Library at the University of Hawaii at Hilo has issued a one-of-a-kind collectible quality ornament to honor the memory of the Library’s namesake, the late Chancellor Edwin H. Mookini.
The ornaments, made from blown glass and hand-painted by European artisans, are designed and manufactured by Ornaments to Remember. They are $15 each, available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Library’s circulation desk, until January 2, 2006, during regular Library hours. The cost includes all tax and a $5 contribution to the Friends of the Edwin H. Mookini Foundation. Each ornament is gift boxed with descriptive insert cards written for each ornament.
“We are very pleased with the depiction of the Library, and quality of the ornaments,” said Library Director Dr. Linda Golian-Lui. “We are especially proud that the ornaments are a tribute to Chancellor Mookini. He believed the quality of the academic university was dependent on the quality of the Library.”
Ornaments to Remember customized the exclusive Edwin H. Mookini Library ornaments for the Library’s annual “Night in the Stacks” fundraiser and celebration. It is the first time the Library has offered a collectible. All proceeds from the ornaments will help purchase Library materials and support Library staff development.
