For Immediate Release
University Radio Hilo, the Internet broadcast facility for the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Hawai‘i Community College, is holding a music donation drive on Saturday, September 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the URH studio in the lobby of Hale Aloha on UH Hilo’s Manono Street campus.
Donations of new and used CDs of all genres of music, broadcast and studio equipment, CD players, headphones, money and office supplies will be accepted. Monetary donations and in-kind contributions accompanied by store receipts are tax deductible.
“We are looking to provide an alternative to commercial broadcasting for both the UH Hilo and HawCC campuses and for the community-at-large,” URH General Manager Mark Farrell said. “We are also providing both broadcast training and general work experience for students of both schools.
“In addition, our long-term goal is to become a full-fledged on-air radio facility. We are working diligently toward that goal but our resources are limited and community support is vital for us to achieve on-air status.”
The music donation drive is an opportunity for the community to meet the station staff and volunteer disc jockeys and to tour the URH studio.
