For Immediate Release
The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo celebrates summer and fall graduates at its 2025 Fall Commencement Saturday, December 20, 9 a.m., at Vulcan Gymnasium. The ceremony is limited to invited guests and not open to the public. The ceremony may be viewed via livestream at: https://www.youtube.com/live/DtaCXfaKEGQ.
Approximately 165 students represent the College of Arts and Sciences, Ka Haka `Ula O Ke`elikolani College of Hawaiian Language, College of Business and Economics, College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource Management, College of Natural and Health Sciences, and the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy.
The student speaker is Danielle Murphy, who graduates with a BA in sociology.
Coming back to school as a non-traditional student, Murphy shares she approached her time at UH Hilo with resilience, compassion, and a determination to lift others as she rebuilt her own path forward. She has served with He Ho`omaka Hou Ana O Puna, as president of the UH Hilo Sociology Club, and the Healthcare-NOW consulting team through the Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology. She hopes to continue her education in psychology while working toward her “ridiculous dream” of creating a nonprofit integrating trauma-informed therapy, transitional housing, and service-dog programs for veterans, survivors, and vulnerable families.
