Basketball Update

Last week the Women’s Basketball team at UH Hilo was on the road in California to face off against Pacwest opponents Fresno Pacific, Notre Dame de Namur, Holy Names, and Dominican. The Vulcans are shooting well from deep, averaging over ten assists, and score in double digits from turnovers per game. Safia Sheikh, Allie Navarette, and Danielle Dacosta are all averaging double digits in scoring and over 5 rebounds a game, while Sara Shimizu leads the team in assists.

The ladies have done well protecting home court with three wins in Hilo. They return to the Civic Auditorium for a home game stretch beginning January 27th against Point Loma, followed by Fresno Pacific on February 1st, and Dominican on February 3rd.

All the Lady Vulcan games begin at 5 p.m.

The Men’s Basketball team at UH Hilo traveled to California for Pacwest games against Fresno Pacific, Notre Dame de Namur, Holy Names, and Dominican.

The Vulcans are playing well, averaging over 14 assists, double digit points off turnovers, and over 4 blocks a game. Trey Ingram and Ryley Callaghan currently lead the team in scoring followed by big men Devin Johnson, Denhym Brooke, and Randan Berinobis who also average over 6 rebounds a game.

The well-rounded team has gone 3-1 in the last four games in Hilo and they will look to add more wins at the Civic beginning January 27th against Point Loma, followed by Fresno Pacific on February 1st, and Dominican on February 3rd.

All the men’s games begin at 7:30 p.m.
