*For Summer 2013, the Board of Regents has approved a special rate for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) and for Pacific Island students. The rate is $302.50 per credit.
Lab and Other Fees
Courses with concurrent labs, field work, or activities outside of the regular lecture usually include a fee in addition to the tuition price. Additional fees are noted in the course or lab description.
The $35 Student Life Center Fee and $2 Student Activity Fee are assessed to all students enrolling in credit courses. An on campus activity for summer students is planned during each summer session.
Some courses are not billed based on tuition per credit, these courses have a $124 per course Administrative Fee. This fee is non-transferable and non-refundable.
Payment Options
Payment for summer classes is due at the time of registration. Delays in payment may result in students being dropped from summer classes.
Credit/Charge Cards: The University of Hawaii at Hilo accepts Visa and MasterCard for all tuition and fee payments.
Checks: Traveler's Checks, cashier's checks, and money orders are accepted. Personal checks will also be accepted for payment of tuition and fees when the check amount does not exceed the amount due. Returned checks, for any reason, will be assessed a $20 fee.Making Payment: Summer Session students can pay for courses through the My UH Portal, by mail, by phone, or in person. Visit the Cashier's Office web page for more information. A statement will not be mailed to you.
Tuition Waivers for Faculty and Staff: Regular and temporary employees who are designated at 0.5 FTE or more are eligible for tuition waivers. Tuition may be waived for up to six (6) credits, eligible faculty and staff are responsible for a $124 non-refundable College Administrative Fee for each term. This waiver does not apply to Directed Studies courses or Study Abroad programs.
Financial Support: Current UH Hilo students attending Summer Session are eligible for financial aid if enrolled in at least six (6) credits. Students wishing to attend summer session using financial aid must complete a summer financial aid application. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
Financial Aid for Visiting Summer Session Students is handled by the student's home institution. Contact the Financial Aid Office at your university or college before registering for classes at UH Hilo.
Veteran Administration (VA) Benefits information is available through the VA Regional Office and the Campus VA representative. Contact the VA representative at 974-7385 before registering for courses. Not all courses offered during the UH Hilo Summer Session are recognized for educational benefits by the VA.
