Program Description
The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy (DKICP) is an educational and experiential program through which students pursue the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. The Pharm.D. program prepares students for entry into the pharmacy profession. In addition to a traditional, full-time, on-campus program that is completed over 4 years, the DKICP now offers an extended, online pathway with immersion experiences (PharmD-XO) that is completed over 5.5 years, with the final year comprised of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences requiring full-time, in-person studies. The courses and graduation requirements for the Pharm.D. degree are the same in both tracks.
Admissions
Per the DKICP Website, students must apply and submit a complete application through PharmCAS. A complete application includes a personal statement, two professional letters of recommendation submitted as electronic letters of reference (eLORs), applicable fee(s), and official transcripts from all regionally-accredited colleges and/or universities attended. The application will ask students to indicate whether they want to be considered for the full-time traditional pathway (on-campus, 4-year program) or the distance education/online pathway (extended, online (XO), 5.5 year program).
