The Hawaiʻi Small Business Development Center Network (HSBDCN) provides business consulting services to small businesses, startups, and pre-launch businesses throughout the State of Hawai`i. Consulting services are provided at no cost to the client.

The HSBDCN is a partnership program between the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. SBDC programs exist in all 50 states and U.S. territories. The Hawai`i presence of the national SBDC program began operation in 1990, and has been associated with the University of Hawaii system since the beginning. Many other organizations and state or local agencies also partner with the HSBDCN to provide training and consulting services to entrepreneurs and business owners in Hawaiʻi.

The HSBDCN maintains a statewide network of client service centers on Kauaʻi (1), Maui (1), Oʻahu (2), and the Big Island of Hawaiʻi (2). The Hawaiʻi Business Research Library, a specialty center of the HSBDCN, conducts business research and analysis for public policy makers as well as the general business community across the state.

Each service center provides comprehensive individual business consulting services to current and aspiring business owners. The areas of expertise include business skills assessment; local, national, and international market development; economic and business data analysis; financial analysis; technology transfer; strategic planning; loan preparation; and business plan development. The services are provided at no cost to entrepreneurs and business owners in Hawaiʻi. Training and educational programs also are provided.
