UH Hilo held its 17th Annual Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Awards Banquet on Saturday, Feb 25, 2017 at UH Hilo’s Campus Center Dining Hall.
This year’s Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients were Ms. Lyndell Lindsey, Mayor Harry Kim and Ms. Jackie Pualani Johnson.
The Distinguished Service Award Recipient was awarded (posthumously) to the late Senator Gilbert Kahele. Senator, Kai Kahele, son of Gilbert, accepted the award.
Organized by UH Hilo and the University’s Alumni and Friends Association, this signature event included a scrumptious buffet dinner, no host cocktails, auction and the opportunity to meet and network with the University community, alumni, business leaders and supporters.
Every year, the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Alumni and Friends Association has the honor of working with a number of incredibly generous business sponsors to help put on the annual Distinguished Alumni Banquet. It is through these kind sponsors, and all the participants, that the Alumni and Friends Association is able to offer scholarships enabling students to excel in their studies and pursue their dreams that benefit all of us as a community.
