GE Basic, Area, and Integrative Requirements for Students with Prior Degrees

This table applies to students who enter UH Hilo with associate or bachelor’s degrees in hand, from a regionally accredited US institution or from an international institution recognized by the government of the country.

Students who transfer to UH Hilo from other UH system campuses with or without having completed a degree but having met the General Education core (Foundation and Diversification) requirements on those campuses are considered to have met the UH Hilo General Education Basic and Area requirements. To earn a baccalaureate degree at UH Hilo, all students must also meet the Integrative (WI, HPP, and GCC) requirements.

Students using the 2011-2012 and later catalogs

 

Students entering UH Hilo with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from an institution accredited by a U.S. regional accreditation agency, including UH Hilo.

Basic and Area requirements are waived

WI and Hawai‘I-Asia-Pacific (HAP) requirements must be met

Basic and Area requirements are waived

Integrative (WI, HPP, and GCC) requirements must be met

 

Students entering UH Hilo with a completed Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, or other non-Bachelor of Arts degree from an institution accredited by a U.S. regional accreditation agency, including UH Hilo; or students with a non U.S. baccalaureate degree from an institution recognized by the country’s government.

 

Students must meet the GE Basic and Area and WI and HPA requirements in effect in a UH Hilo catalog they are eligible to follow. See catalog declaration policy.

 

Students should meet with their academic advisor to determine whether their transfer courses can apply towards the Basic, Area, WI, and HAP requirements
