Requesting modification of a GE requirement

When you wish to request to

  • apply a course not certified for GE to a GE Basic, Area, or Integrative requirement
  • waive a GE Basic, Area, or Integrative requirement
  1. Consult with your faculty advisor or an advisor at the Advising Center
  2. Complete the form Request for modification of academic requirements
    • Fill out the top section
    • Then
      • For non-certified course approval, fill out the "substitution" section, OR
      • For waiver of requirement, fill out the "waiver" section"
      • Complete the justification section
    • Sign
  3. Advisor signs the form and keeps a copy
  4. Take the completed, signed original form to the Dean of your college for review and signature.
  5. If the Dean approves, arrange to pick up the signed form and deliver it to the Office of the Registrar. Keep a copy.

Requesting modification of a major/minor certificate requirement

When you wish to request to

  • substitute another course or courses for (a) major/minor/certificate requirement(s)
  • waive (a) major/minor/certificate requirement(s)
  1. Consult with your major advisor
  2. Complete the form Request for modification of academic requirements
    • Fill out the top section
    • Then
      • To substitute a course or courses, fill out the "substitution" section, OR
      • To waive a requirement, fill out the "waiver" section"
      • Complete the justification section
    • Sign
  3. Advisor signs the form and keeps a copy.
  4. Take the origina signed, completedl form to the program/department chair.
  5. Chair reviews, approves, signs, checks "major/minor/certificate" and keeps a copy of the form. If multiple programs are involved, the chair of each program/department must review, approve, sign, and keep a copy of the form.
  6. Take the original completed and signed form to the Office of the Registrar. Keep a copy.
