Vegetable Gardening
UHH Home > Academics > College of Continuing Education and Community Service
This one day workshop will teach students how to identify and safely control disease and insect pests in their own gardens as well as learn what type of vegetables to plant, and the proper nutrition to give them for optimal vegetable growth. Discussions on warm season and cool season vegetables, soils, fertilization, transplanting, direct seeding, common diseases and insect pests will also be covered. Taught by Hawaii Tribune Herald garden columnist Nick Sakovich, retired farm advisor for the University of California Cooperative Extension and former Administrator of Master Gardener Programs, this class comes hot on the heels of several other popular gardening courses he has instructed.
