Aging with Grace Exercise Series: Fall Prevention

This series will be presented by various healthcare professionals who will discuss the multiple factors contributing to falls in the aging population. Speakers will also address the wide range of preventive measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of falls.This will include education on equipment, home safety and modifications, as well as looking at possible contributing factors such as vision and medication.This class is highly recommended for anyone interested in attending the Aging with Grace Exercise Program. Caregivers, family, health professionals, those working with the elderly or anyone interested in aging gracefully are also encouraged to attend.

Speakers will include:

Forrest Batz, PharmD serves as an Assistance Professor of Pharmacy Practice in The Daniel K Inouye College of Pharmacy at the University of Hawaii At Hilo. Dr. Batz instructs courses in over-the-counter medicines and complementary medicine.

Mark Knox is a Family Physician in practice at the Hawaii Island Family Health Center and a faculty member of the Hawaii Island Family Medicine Residency Program that will be starting its first class onJuly 1. Dr. Knox also a Clinical Associate Professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.

Rheam Mansour, DPT, is currently employed at Hilo Medical Center providing both outpatient and inpatient physical rehabilitation services. She is passionate and well-versed in a broad range of PT programs including fall prevention, geriatrics, women's health, orthopedics, wound care, pediatrics and lymphedema management.
